Special Olympics Program: $3,000

These funds have been used to purchase uniforms for our athletes, as well as other items needed at the Special Olympics Games to keep our clients engaged between sessions. Our full team of athletes participated in the Northern Area Games held at Bryant University on May 6,while selected team members participated in the Summer Games held on June 2 at the University of Rhode Island. Our clients and their families were delighted with the uniforms!

The Cove Center’s Ceramic Program: $10,000
The goal of the Cove Artist Collective is to provide enjoyment to our clients as they become involved in the creative process, as well as help them make a connection between their creations and work opportunities. The Program is run by Anna Thompson. Funds have been used to purchase the clay, molds, and other materials needed, as well as the electrical costs associated with getting the kiln up and running. Our artists were able to sell their wares at both our Annual Symposium and The Secret Garden Fundraiser.

The Individual Educational Plan (IEP) Program for Groden North & South Schools: $8,830
This grant is being used to purchase software for the generation of computerized IEPs for all the students attending Groden North and South. The resulting IEPs will be developed efficiently and professionally by our staff. We will receive a Special Education IEP Case Management Module, professional installation and set-up of the module for management implementation, and remote, full-day training for the staffs at both schools.

New Van for Transport of Cove Clients: $30,000

Relaxation/Sensory Rooms and Equipment for Residential Homes: $6,230

The Groden North School: $14,000
Funds will be used to purchase furniture, partitions, and work cubicles used by the clients.

“Peer Connections” Therapeutic Summer Camp: $2,500 for 2017
This amount was awarded for financial assistance for families registering for 2017 summer camp.

“Peer Connections” Therapeutic Summer Camp: $2,800 for 2017 and 2018
This amount will be used to reduce the fee per child from $500 to $400 during the 2017 and 2018 camp seasons.

Gym Memberships for Cove Group Home Residents: $10,000
These funds will be used to purchase memberships at Planet Fitness for Cove clients, allowing them the opportunity to achieve positive health, social skill building, and be active members of an integrated environment, all mandated by our State funding source.

Contribution to The Cove Center Improvement Projects: $10,000
The Cove Center has requested a grant from The Champlain Foundation to support a number of projects needed in order to continue to provide quality care and treatment of our clients. These include front and rear entry area improvements, which will include a community eating area and a vocational opportunity for adult horticultural programs, an outdoor classroom, exercise stations, stand up vegetable beds, a kitchen cabinet and sink remodel, and a wellness/sensory room.
